Island Mall is a regional shopping centre on the outskirts of an old European town. It is comprised of a basement parking level, two full levels of retail with structured parking provided on-grade access to each level and a half-level on the third floor with cinema, food and entertainment facilities. It is designed around the fundamentals of tried-and-tested retail planning principles but also needed to provide a strong, pedestrianised, urban gesture on its south-western corner. The urban piazza forms a unique feature of the scheme and functions both as an urban space for public enjoyment as well as vibrant place for restaurant seating providing clear, pleasant and easy access to both levels of the mall.
